Matchmaking in Zooba is designed to give you balanced, fair battles at every stage of the game. Here's how it works depending on how you're playing.
Solo Matchmaking
When playing solo, matchmaking is based on two things: the trophies and level of the specific character you're playing. Both factors are weighted together — a highly-levelled character with fewer trophies and a lower-levelled character with many trophies can end up in similar brackets. Your total account trophies don't affect individual matches.
Just unlocked a new character? Every character starts at the bottom of the trophy ladder and gets matched against opponents at a similar level — your progress with other characters won't put you at a disadvantage when trying someone new.
Team Matchmaking
When grouping up with friends, the system adjusts to keep things fair for everyone in the lobby. Team matchmaking is determined by the highest individual character trophy in your premade team — not an average. This prevents highly-ranked characters from being brought into beginner lobbies and keeps competition fair across the board.
Why Does a Match Sometimes Feel Unbalanced?
Because trophies and character level are weighted together, you can occasionally face unexpected combinations — a low-trophy player with a high-level character can be a tough opponent, even if it doesn't look like it on paper. The more you play a character, the more accurately the system places you. Stick with it!
Matchmaking also uses your region automatically to keep connections stable — no setup needed on your end.
